Granny's Bike
On the duo bike (also known as 'Granny's Bike') you are seated next to each other, much cosier and comfortable than a tandem! The driver can change gears (8 gears), pedal, brake and steer. The co-driver chooses whether he or she is going to join in and at what speed. In addition to the hand brakes, the bike also has a parking brake so that you both can get off without the bike spinning. It is only possible to rent this bike if the passenger cannot cycle independently!
How does the duo bike work?
You sit on bucket seats that can slide forwards and backwards, so that you both have good access to the pedals. The passenger's seat can be rotated to make it easier to get on (from a wheelchair, for example). Furthermore, you can fold up and down the armrests and the seat has a belt. There is a basket on the back and the frame can be equipped with a walking stick.
The bike is a little over 1 metre wide. This width takes some getting used to, but it fits on the cycle track. Make sure you keep the front wheel in the middle of the cycle path, so you can safely set off!
Pedal assistance with electric motor
The duo bike has pedal assistance with electric motor and 8 gears. This means that everyone can use it, even if you both have less strength in your legs. If you want to drive away from a standstill or cross a bridge, you can press a button on the steering wheel to provide a little extra support temporarily. That those little bridges are easy to cross you will see in the film below that an enthusiastic duo rider made when there was not even any pedal assistance on it!

Click on the desired date and starting time below. By default four hours are blocked, but if you want to cycle shorter or longer, you can adjust that in the next step of the reservation.
The rental price is €10 per half-day or four hours (regardless of the time) and €20 deposit. You pay this in our campsite shop on the day of hire.
It is only possible to rent this bike if the passenger cannot cycle independently!
If you book the duo bike, you will receive information in advance on how to adjust the bicycle so that you are both sitting comfortably and can reach the pedals. We will also tell you more about how the electric motor with battery works.
